But this case is a little unusual: The missing dog only has three legs. His owner, Karla Dupre of Lakeway, has been frantically searching for him since he disappeared from Zilker Park on Saturday. Hobbs, a yellow Labrador Retriever, is missing his back right leg, said Dupre. She said she rescued him four years ago from a litter of puppies left in a cooler in front of a restaurant owned by her sister-in-law in Kilgore. His back right leg was all chewed up and had to be amputated, she said. No one wanted him because he was handicapped, Dupre said. Hes named Hobbs because he hobbles along, she said. Dupre said her daughter took Hobbs to Zilker Park in Austin around 11 a.m. Saturday where he loves to run and play with balls. He usually comes back to check in but he disappeared around noon, Dupre said. She said she and her daughter searched around the park area for Hobbs until 9 p.m.
